how it all began...

An opportunity to create a vibrant hub in the community

When the former Humbie Village Shop, house and Post Office came on the market in 2013, Patrick and Linda Flockhart recognised how important it was to keep a local shop in the village.

They also saw an opportunity to create something bigger – a vibrant hub at the heart of the community.

Patrick’s parents, Ross and Pam, had lived in Humbie for many years and contributed greatly to village life. Inspired by that sense of community, Patrick and Linda took the step to secure the building and its future.

A New Chapter for the Village

Roots in Humbie

On 1st October 2013, Humbie Hub Ltd took ownership of the site. Over the next 18 months, the property was transformed into the thriving business you see today.

During the construction phase, Morag and her small team worked hard to keep the shop and Post Office open – ensuring that the community continued to be served throughout. Their commitment meant that when the Hub officially opened on 29th March 2015 (with Linda cutting the cake to mark the occasion!), it already had firm roots in the village.

At the Heart of the Community

From the beginning, the focus has been on great customer service and providing a welcoming space for all.

The Hub has also created local employment – offering opportunities for people to work in a supportive, friendly environment.

For some, it’s a place to build skills and confidence before moving on, while for others it’s a long-term role at the heart of village life.
